NEMO (museum)
Review
NEMO is the largest science center in the Netherlands. It is located in Amsterdam. The architecture is by Renzo Piano. NEMO is located right next to the Amsterdam central station and the Maritime museum. (...) (from Wikipedia).
The museum, which is intended for ages four and above, is extremely successful. It contains departments dealing with natural sciences, substances, chemical processes, the human body, technology, etc. The building itself is green and beautiful and very prominent on the water bank. It was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, who also planned the Pompidou Center in Paris. The museum's name is homage to the leading character of Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea. It's recommended to go up to the top floor, where a terrace offers a fabulous vista of vast parts of Amsterdam, the port and some of the canals in the area east of the train station. This floor also has a good café.
