Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Review
Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse in the London Borough of Southwark, located on the south bank of the River Thames, but destroyed by fire in 1613, rebuilt 1614 then demolished in 1644 (...) (from Wikipedia).
The theatre situated on the bank of the Thames is a reconstruction of the theatre in which four hundred years ago, the company of actors led by the greatest of all playwrights, William Shakespeare, would perform. The entire structure was reconstructed precisely, using only wooden parts with no metal. Plays are performed at the Globe only during summertime, as the structure has no roof. All year round there is a fascinating display of the structure of the Shakespearean theatre, the reconstruction of the building and theatre effects that are hundreds of years old. The tour guides and staff at the place wear traditional uniforms and the visit is a fascinating experience. Tours are held during the day and plays are performed in the evenings.
