Alcázar of Seville Review

The Alcázar of Seville (Spanish 'Alcázares Reales de Sevilla' or 'Royal Alcazars of Seville') is a royal palace in Seville, Spain, originally a Moorish fort. The Almohades were the first to build a palace, which was called Al-Muwarak, on the site of the modern day Alcázar (...) (from Wikipedia).
This impressive palace was built as early as the 14th century. It is located exactly to the north of the cathedral, is considered to be the oldest royal residence in Europe still in use. The Spanish royal family - King Juan Carlos I and his wife Queen Sofia reside there during their visits to Seville. In this palace, Queen Isabella and her husband Ferdinand of Spain received Columbus upon his return from America. You can still find some of Spain's finest art and craft works in the palace today. Many compare the splendor of the Alcázar with that of Alhambra. It is also highly recommended to visit the beautiful gardens, which include many fountains. The English Garden, created in the 18th century, is the most praised. The most famous patio in the Alcázar is Patio de las Doncellas.
Address: Plaza del Triunfo.
