The Parthenon in Nashville's Centennial Park
Destination creator (Voyajo Team)
Located in the southeastern state of Tennessee, Nashville is one of the most popular tourist cities in the United States, thanks mainly to its close ties with country music.
Visitors planning a trip to Nashville can arrive via air or road - Nashville International Airport serves nearly five million passengers every year, and is well connected to the city’s downtown and tourist districts. Alternatively, major cities like Atlanta and Charlotte offer access via road, but with this being America, those drives can be fairly long.
The city’s most popular attraction is the Grand Ole Opry, which has been hosting a weekly country music stage show since 1925. The list of performers to have trodden its boards is like a who’s who of country music. Catching a show here is well worth the time. Another popular music venue is Ryman Auditorium, a National Historic Landmark found on Nashville’s own Fifth Avenue. Visitors also flock to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
In addition to being a Mecca for country music fans, the state of Tennessee also features a number of other music-related tourist attractions. Memphis is home to Elvis Presley’s world-famous Graceland estate, while Pigeon Forge houses Dollywood, a theme park and resort dedicated to Dolly Parton. Memphis is approximately three hours away by car and Pigeon Forge is three-and-a-half hours away. Regular day trips depart Nashville for both destinations.
Nashville isn’t just about music though. The city is home to a number of other popular attractions as well as modern amenities. Any Nashville trip plan will benefit from a trip to the likes of Nashville Zoo, the Adventure Science Museum, the Tennessee State Museum, or Belmont Mansion.
Those visiting Centennial Park may even come across something they didn’t expect. The popular park is home to a replica of the Parthenon found in Athens. The surprising landmark is certainly worth a quick peek.
