Seville's cathedral is the largest gothic building in the world and the third largest church in Europe (after the Vatican and Saint Paul in London). Its construction started in the 15th century, on the site of the ruins of an ancient mosque. The body of Christopher Columbus, the discoverer of America, is said to be buried in the cathedral, although at least two other burial sites are claimed for him. Orange and lemon trees grow in the beautiful patio.
