Day Seven
Ponte Nuevo and old bridges across El Tajo gorge. Good wandering in the Moorish streets, great views of the countryside. Bullring (the oldest and most beautiful in Spain) and bull breeding. Look down from the new bridge into the gorge below, then walk to the bottom. From the bridge walk towards the old town, and take the first right (Calle Tenorio acording to Google Maps) and at the very end of the street is a small cute plaza with an indigineous pine tree and a small fountain. Path beside the plaza goes down to an old Arab gate. From the Arab gate – view of new bridge and the waterfall under it, and also of the cliffs. To get under the new bridge just go through the Arab gate, and keep on the track that hugs the cliff until you reach the bottom. Then follow the steps down to the base of the bridge. From here simply walk under the arch. Unfortunately the other side is an old sluice gate that stinks of sewage, and really isn't very pleasant, but at least you can say you went to the bottom.
