Top Kids Attractions in London
Having recently returned from a fun (and exhausting!) visit to this exciting capital city I’d like to share my opinions about the best family friendly places to include when Planning a trip to London.
Start your kid-friendly visit with a trip to the National History Museum located close to South Kensington tube station. This has everything you could wish for in a proper traditional museum. Children will love the gigantic animatronic T Rex, the Egyptian mummies and interactive exhibitions. There are also live talks, workshops and films on show in the Attenborough Studio. If you have time - stay for an entire day here, and grab a snack or lunch in one of the cafés and restaurants onsite or, bring a picnic to eat in the designated areas. We were amazed to find that entrance to the museum is free.
High on your kids’ wish list will no doubt be a trip to Hamley’s London branch and you’ll find this famous toy store on Regent Street. Big and little kids alike will love the huge range of toys and games on display – and they can also enjoy the free events – each week there are puppet shows, activities and competitions.
Madame Tussauds which is located close to Marylebone tube station will fascinate youngsters with its strikingly accurate wax models of the rich and famous. Entrance isn’t cheap and you may have to queue for a while, but with 14 interactive zones and a Marvel Super Heroes 4D movie - the kids will thank you for it.
If you have time to spare I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Hampton Court Palace in South London - a fantastic attraction for everyone, children included. This opulent 16th century mansion was famously home to Henry VIII. Take the guided tour to travel back in time – the kitchens are especially interesting where you can find out what life for a Tudor cook was really like. The gardens are stunning too, and if you’ve had enough of the kids you can lose them in the maze! Boat trips run from the riverbank – and make a perfect and relaxing way to end an afternoon.
If you’re Planning a trip to London and have kids in tow I hope this has given you some tips to keep the kids inspired.
